DigEm training for unemployed women in retirement age in Warsaw-Poland

With the cooperation of the University of Third Age (U3A) in Warsaw, was implemented by the polish partner of DigEm project (Multimedia Education Center at Warsaw University – SGGW) a workshop on DigEm methodology, from 25 November until 12 December 2010 (in total 24 hours duration). 
This training course is part of the cycle of educational workshops aimed at target groups of DigEm project, those who have few or no formal qualifications, members of socially excluded groups, older learners, women over 45, members of minority ethnic groups, in order to motivate them to increase their employability and social participation. 
In this training course participated as trainees seven (7) unemployed women at retirement age and hence, disengaged with the learning process and not confident with new technologies. The main theme of the developed digital stories was based on the life experiences of the participants.
Through the successful guidance of trainers Robert Budzynski, Daria Panasiuk and Anna Pacholec, the trainees acquainted with the methodology, techniques, tools and educational material included in the methodological guide that has already been developed from the project implementation until now. The used approach is experiential. That means that trainees experienced the DigEm method rather than passively watching a presentation. Utilizing creative techniques used by the Mass Media, such as the creation of stories-scenarios focused on lived experiences, theater, photography, music, video clip and narration production, each of the trainees created by a two-minute digital story, which will be posted on the official website of the project (www.digem.eu). It is worth mentioned that participants were enthusiastic with the training method and positively surprised by their active participation and acquaintance acquired with new technologies. 

Train the Trainers Workshop on the DigEm Methodology took place in Larissa 19 - 20 April 2011

DigEm train the trainer workshop took place successfully on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 of April 2011, hosted by DIMITRA ITD in Larissa, within the framework of the innovative European program “Digem –Digital Empowerment” that is being coordinated by DIMITRA I.T.D.
More specifically, during the training seminar in Larissa there was a trainers’ training on the use of the DigEm methodology for the creation of digital stories. The 11 trainees were selected based on their access to target groups of the program, namely those with no/few formal qualifications, socially excluded groups, older learners, women over 45, minority ethnic groups in order to motivate them to increase their employability. The trainees, through the successful guidance of trainers Evi Papatheodorou and Nikos Mandrekas, acquainted with the methodology, techniques, tools and educational material included in the methodological guide that has already been developed from the project implementation until now. The used approach is experiential. That means that trainees experienced the DigEm method rather than passively watching a presentation. Utilizing creative techniques used by the Mass Media, such as the creation of stories-scenarios focused on experiential experiences, theater, photography, music, video clip and narration production, each of the trainees created by a two-minute digital story, which will be posted on the official website of the project (www.digem.eu). The abovementioned methodology will be able to be used from different target groups and at the same time in a wide range of educational programs depending on the control handling of the tools by the trainer. 
It is worth mentioning that within the next months, a similar training seminar will be organized in Greece as well for end users coming from various disadvantaged groups. 
DigEm is an innovative digital empowering project that uses a creative approach to teaching ICT skills and provides an effective entry route for learners disengaged with the learning process, or not confident with new technologies. DigEm develops communication skills by using creative tools/media techniques, focused on people's own lives, through story-telling, photography, music, video and narrative. The project is being coordinated by DIMITRA ITD with the participation of partner organization from eight European Countries: England, Spain, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Cyprus and Greece.

V Londyne se konal workshop s nazvem skoleni lektoru pro pouziti metodologie projektu DigEm

Workshop Skoleni lektoru v ramci projektu DigEm uspesne probehl v pondeli a utery 21. - 22.unora 2011. Workshop byl organizovan jednou z partnerskych organizaci projektu – DIGITALES, a to v modernich prostorach londynske univerzity Goldsmith. Zucastnili se jej partneri ze vsech spolupracujicich zemi, tedy z Recka, Spanelska, Kypru, Ceske republiky, Polska, Litvy a Anglie. Tento workshop byl jiz ctvrty, ktery probehl pod zastitou inovativniho evropskeho programu, Digem – Digital Empowerment“ koordinovaneho reckou organizaci DIMITRA I.T.D. 
Behem skoliciho seminare v Londyne byla pouzita metodologie projektu DigEm zamerujici se na tvorbu digitalnich pribehu. Ucastnici kurzu se seznamili s metodologii, technikami, nastroji a vzdelavacim materialem, ktery je zahrnut v metodologickem pruvodci. Ten byl vyvinut na zaklade dosavadnich zkusenosti z prubehu projektu. Pouzity pristup se zameril na ziskani zkusenosti, coz znamena, ze si ucastnici za pomoci uspesneho odborneho vedeni lektoru vyzkouseli metodu DigEm na vlastni kuzi namisto pasivniho sledovani prezentaci. Za pouziti kreativnich metod pouzivanych masovymi medii jakymi jsou vytvareni scenaru pribehu zamerenych na vlastni zkusenost, divadlo, fotografii, hudbu, video ukazka a tvorba vypraveni, vytvoril kazdy ucastnik workshopu dvouminutovy digitalni pribeh. Vsechny jsou zverejneny na oficialnich strankach projektu (www.digem.eu). Vyse zminena metodologie bude moci byt vyuzita pro ruzne cilove skupiny i pro siroky rozsah vzdelavacich programu, a to v zavislosti na kontrole pouziti nastroju lektorem.
Jiste stoji za zminku i fakt, ze podobny seminar zamerujici se na lektory stejne jako seminar pro konecne uzivatele z ruznych znevyhodnenych skupin bude v pristich trech mesicich organizovan take v Recku. Projekt je zacilen na osoby se zadnym ci nizkym formalnim vzdelanim a ze socialne vyloucenych skupin, starsi studujici, zeny 45+, mensinove etnicke skupiny a sleduje hlavni cil – zvysit jejich zamestnatelnost.
DigEm je inovativni projekt zvysujici zkusenosti s digitalnimi technologiemi. Pouziva kreativnich metod uceni dovednosti v informacnich a komunikacnich technologii a otevira tak dvere jak tem, kteri jiz z ucebniho procesu vypadli, tak tem, kteri si v pouzivani novych technologii nejsou prilis jisti. DigEm vyviji komunikacni dovednosti vyuzitim kreativnich nastroju/medialnich technologii, ktere se zameruji na vlastni zivoty lidi prostrednictvim vypraveni pribehu, fotografie, hudby a videa. Cilem projektu DigEm je vzdelat lektory z nestatnich organizaci, ktere pracuji s cilovou skupinou, a tak ziskat pristup k vetsimu mnozstvi konecnych uzivatelu. Nestatni organizace obvykle spolupracuji s vice nez jednou cilovou skupinou. Projekt je koordinovan organizaci DIMITRA ITD za spoluucasti partnerskych organizaci z osmi zemi Evropske unie; Velke Britanie, Spanelska, Polska, Litvy, Ceske republiky, Kypru a Recka.

DigEm train the trainer seminar in Ostrava of Czech Republic

In the context of activities of the project DigEm “Digital Empowerment” thera was a 2-days training of trainers held on 9th-10th October 2010. The training took place in Ostrava and was organized by ATHENA – Association for Education and Development of Women. The training course lasted 14 hours and participated four (4) trainers and eleven (11) trainees, most of them of the Czech Republic, but also three trainees from Poland and one from Slovakia.
The objective of this workshop was to present the method of digital and social empowerment through digital stories creation, to be familiarized the trainees with the methods and techniques which are developing in the framework o DigEm project, in order to be ready to implement, as trainers, future trainings for end users.
The internal evaluation of the seminar showed that trainees were fully satisfied and agreed on the fact that their creativity was provoked, for some of them surprisingly. Most of the trainees declared that they will utilize DigEm method in their personal and professional life.

Second DigEm train-the-trainer workshop successfully took place in Poland

The second train-the-trainer seminar in the framework of European project DigEm was implemented successfully on 13th and 14th May 2010 in Warsaw of Poland. The workshop took place in the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and organized by the polish project’s partner Multimedia Education Center at Warsaw University (SGGW). A total of twelve (12) persons participated, four (4) as trainers and eight (8) as trainees. Both the trainers and trainees came from all countries participating in the project, from UK, Spain, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Poland, Cyprus and Greece.
Main objective of this seminar was to present to the trainees the methodology of developing digital and social skills through creating digital stories, to familiarize them with the methods, techniques and managing of the workshop, and finally to create each of them one digital story. In the near future the trainees will be asked to implement DigEm methodology as trainers in workshops aimed at end users, thus it is very important to experience the process and become familiar with the requirements of the workshop. 
Moreover, one of the main objectives of train-the-trainers seminar in this phase of DigEm project is creating a fruitful interactive feedback with the trainees, who because of their experience in training vulnerable social groups can identify opportunities for further development and improving of DigEm methodology.      
At the end of the workshop was common belief that the objectives of the train-the-trainers seminar covered beyond initial expectations. Trainees were also totally satisfied with the practical application of the methodology. Interactive dialogue went one step further. Using their personal experience in the education of vulnerable social groups, trainees suggested ways of successfully adapting the methodology to different target groups, depending on the particularities of each.
