Train the Trainers in Cyprus, 7th and 8th of October 2011

The last Train the Trainers workshop is planned to take place in Cyprus, at EDITC premices.  The scheduled dates are 6th and 7th of October.

The planned workshop aims in creating a network of trainers in Cyprus in order to promote the DIGEM methodology among the Cyprus Trainers Community.

End Users Pilot for Immigrants, CYPRUS September 2011

The workshop for immigrants was held at EDITC premises at Nicosia, Cyprus on the 9th, 10th , and 16th of September 2011.  We had 7 participants which are working immigrants from Sri Lanka.

There were 3 trainers at the workshop, Maria Knais, Christina Shiati and Athena Knais.  All three trainers participated in  the ice breaking games as well as the creation of the story board. Christina Shiati and Athena Knais  delivered the parts of the picture editing,  video creation  and voice recording.

The workshop was an empowering experience for the participants and seven videos were the end product of this effort.

End Users Pilots for Economically Inactive Women and Unemployed People, CYPRUS June 2011

The workshop for unemployed and inactive women was held at EDITC premises in Nicosia, Cyprus on the 10th, 14th , and 16th of June 2011. There were 3 trainers at the workshop, Maria Knais, Christina Shiati and Athena Knais.  All three trainers participated in  the ice breaking games as well as the creation of the story board. Christina Shiati and Athena Knais  delivered the parts of the picture editing,  video creation  and voice recording.

The feedback we got from the participants was that the workshop offered them creativity, new ICT skills and empowerment. They have stated that it was the most fun to attend workshop.

Second workshop of DigEm project in Santander, España September 2011.

From the 8th to the 14th of September 2011, the Spanish partner of the DigEm project (Digital Empowerment), DOCUMENTA, implemented the second workshop of storytelling in the municipal training center of Barrio Pesquero in Santander.  
The main aim of DigEm is spreading the alternative training methodologies to acquire skills through new technologies. The target group is people that are disengaged with the learning process. In this case, the participants were disabled people, groups with learning difficulties, associations and social entities.
They created digital stories on their personal experiences. The trainees developed their communication skills through story-telling, photography, music, videos and audio recordings. The videos they created can be visited on the official website of the project (www.digem.eu). 
This workshop was attended by eight trainees. They came from Down Syndrome Foundation, the Association for Persons with Aphasia, and professionals of social services. The working atmosphere was excellent and all participants created their own videos. The trainees showed great satisfaction and enthusiasm for DigEm method (which strengthened their social and digital skills). They declared that they would like to continue to use creative DigEm methods and techniques for digital stories in their daily live.
Gema Díaz Dominguez, Councilor of Employment and Business Development, Roberto del Pozo, Councilor of Personal Autonomy, and Javier Farto, president of DOCUMENTA attended to the closing activity. They gave the certificates of attendance and they watched some of the videos made by the participants during the workshop. 

Second Digem workshop for end users in Warsaw-Poland

The second workshop for end users in Warsaw-Poland completed successfully. It organized by the polish DigEm partner (Multimedia Education Center at Warsaw University – SGGW) and took place at the University of Life Sciences in Warsaw from 5th to 7th July of 2011.
This workshop was aimed at senior citizens who have little familiarity with new technologies and unemployed of retirement age. To attract suitable trainees, the organizer body (SGGW) sent information to educational institutions, associations and NGO’s related to skill’s development for older people, such as the University of Third Age, with which was cooperated at the first workshop that was held in Warsaw between November and December 2010.
DigEm workshop was attended by nine (9) persons, aged 45-78 years old, who within 24 hours succeed to create digital stories on their personal experiences. Through the successful guidance of trainers Robert Budzynski, Daria Panasiuk and Katarzyna Kruszewska, the trainees acquainted with the methodology, techniques, tools and educational material included in the methodological guide that has already been developed from the project implementation until now. Utilizing creative techniques used by the Mass Media, such as the creation of stories-scenarios focused on lived experiences, theater, photography, music, video clip and narration production, each of the trainees created by a two-minute digital story, which will be posted on the official website of the project (www.digem.eu). The trainees were completely satisfied by both the educational procedure and the result and declared that they continue to use creative DigEm methods and techniques for digital stories in their daily live.
